Cut Me Up Issue 14: Mixed Messages, curated by Aaron Beebe, is a selection of 18 artworks that combine images and text to explore the intersections of language, perception, and the inherent gaps in understanding that often arise in communication. Throughout these works, text is used both as a visual and narrative element to depict both the structure of communication and its potential breakdown.

Curatorial prompts for Issue 14 artists:

• Incorporate text into your work, whether fragmented or piled on top of one another—whatever you fancy!

• Explore how the interaction of images and text can create a narrative, explore new meanings, or expose failures of communication.

• Consider text typography, font choice, and placement to create visual impact.

• Solid colors are encouraged.

• All eligible submissions must incorporate some portion or portions of Cut Me Up: Issue 13.
